Fitness!

Fridays - after syndicate singing and before Discovery, we go out for some fitness activities. Today we practised our running and skipping. (Skipping is a skill that could be worked on at home a bit too!)

Scents and Stinks!

In Discovery time today we tried to identify different smells and similar smells. We practised wafting smells carefully. Sorting different smells wasn't as easy as some thought! Great fun though!

RIMU Group

The RIMU Group meet every Tuesday afternoon to focus and develop leadership skills under our RIMU values.

Here are some pictures from today's workshops led by Talamahina (Constellation projectors) and Jackson (Design and building).  These guys did a great job supporting others in the group when they were stuck for ideas and look at the results.

Physics - Magnets

'Ph' was the blend we were looking at this week, and since we had covered photosynthesis in class (more on that later :)) what better than to do a physics experiment with magnets as the Science focus for Discovery today!

Year (2) 3 and 4 Sports Day @HHS

Today we had 360 Year 3 and 4 kids at our school (and including our year 2s!!) for a Sports Day. There were 4 different games played in 5 different zones - Rob the Nest, Clean your room, Shoot the Hoop, and Rock off.Many thanks to all our parents who helped out!

Te Reo Maori

Mr Murray has been coming in every 2nd Monday to help teach us Te Reo Maori. We have been learing the names of things around the classroom. See how well you can do on this quiz.

Water Safety Skills

Today goggles were put away and this group practised water safety skills - swimming the length of the pool with the aid of a life jacket.





Their tutor, Jane, was really impressed with how well they followed instructions - the best she had seen! Way to go guys!

Seed Dispersal

We have been looking at the different types of seed dispersal. - wind, drop and roll, exploding, hitch-hikers, water,  and animal (One that always fascinates!!)
